WIT Women vs. Keene State

WIT Rugby’s favorite away game, the women met Keene State at their home during Pumpkinfest.  Keene may have won, yet again, the world record for jack o’ lanterns, but WIT walked away with another win against Keene on the pitch.  Both teams fought long and hard in a game controlled by WIT from the start, and though Keene’s fullback made two impressive tries from downfield, they couldn’t turn it around in their favor.  It was a game that saw multiple pauses for injury on both sides, and the WIT Women enjoyed Keene’s sportsmanship and friendliness during a few exceptionally long stops for injured players.

WIT vs. Keene left the women at a 5-1 record so far.

WIT Women vs WestConn

An impressive win for Wentworth was completely fitting for the Women’s first ever home game on campus. Despite the rain, the bleachers and sidelines were full, and the loyal fans were not disappointed.  WIT beat WestConn 57-19, with two tries by Ashley Bressette (flanker), and one each by Clair Hafey (wing), Cari Shetrone (flanker), Maria Hackett (scrumhalf), Leti Santa (outside center), Amanda Petruzzo (inside center), Jess Millroy (eightman), and Luisa McKenna (flyhalf).  Six of those nine tries were converted by Leti Santa, carrying us spectacularly into a 4-1 season so far.

WIT Women vs Plymouth State

Wentworth Women’s away game at Plymouth State was an excellent turnaround after our previous week’s loss.  WIT walked away with another win, thanks very much to Leti Santa, whose penalty kicks made all the difference.

This win improves WIT’s season to record to 3-1.

WIT Women vs. UMass Dartmouth

Image
WIT’s third match of the season saw the women face off against UMass Dartmouth at home in Clifford Park.  Wentworth controlled the game from the start, scoring first, but UMass kept it a close competition until the end.  With three WIT starting players removed from the game due to injury, UMass moved ahead to a winning try in the last seven minutes of the game.

Our first loss of the season left us with a 2-1 record so far.
